06 Aug 2017 – Senryu Sequence: Sunday Afternoon

Radio racket –

and the scrape of stainless steel –

calls from the kitchen.

Mid-afternoon now,

trees take on that velvet shade –

rain-wrapping promise.

Shadows slant Westward,

wearing out the weary eye

with too much daylight.

Heart like a cistern,

see how sunlight fills the pool

where birdsong ripples?

Sleep is a bounty

Heaven sent to those weep

at all this beauty.
