30 Jul 2015 – A Fresh Surrender
You turn a corner, walking down a street,
pass a market, all your friends you greet
with silent nods and shuffle on your way.
No time to talk – at least there’s none today.
A schoolboy shudders – teacher drawing near.
The feeling: self-reproach much more than fear.
A gentle light the harshest things reveals,
a fresh surrender as the heart is peeled.
You turn a corner, having seen the way.
The worst of us drown out the voice each day.
Yet for the few the Truth has set apart,
for Love they’ll face the contents of their heart.
