23 Apr 2016 – Racing for the Morning

Drivin’ through the pouring rain,
lightning screaming out in pain.
how’d I get back here again?
I’m racing for the morning.

Hammer ringing sounds of hail,
on the bridge the lights have failed –
river flooding to the rail –
I’m racing for the morning.

Twister at the edge of sight,
forests prostrate in the night,
this is my one chance at flight –
I’m racing for the morning.

How is it I fell asleep,
waking as the heavens weep,
no time left to think – just leaping –
racing for the morning?
