08 Mar 2016 – Treasures

I knew a fool once.
He believed God’s greatest gifts
were in his wallet.

The world a garden!
Are you blind – too blind to see
what sways around you?

So many petals
beaten down by storms of grief,
plucked young, forgotten!

Wake up! Step gently!
Mothers, sisters, daughters, friends,
are all around you.

Some deal in beauty
as they would a load of fish
with unwashed fingers!

Do you dare trample
heaven’s treasures into dust
and boast you’re blameless?
