19 Jan 2016 – Night Between Worlds
(for Paul Darby)
In the night between the worlds
you hear the sound of grindings:
light and life, death and darkness.
Stand still, do not leap ahead,
nor go back the way you came –
stand still, be still, and listen.
Fear kicks up specters like sparks,
hope drips like honey from stars,
here in the night between worlds.
This is the place where you are,
wrapped in the womb between worlds,
biding your time to be born.
