let’s lighten things up a little bit…
07 Dec 2015 – Sonnet
A ceaseless stalker of the chocolate mousse.
Elusive prey in urban food bars prowls,
a terror with dread sugar highs induced
sometimes behind the cottage cheese it howls,
sending diet-conscious sheep for cover,
their sleek coats shining in the warm-tray lights.
Near the low-fat ranch they tend to hover,
so meekly feeding in the neon night.
What hand hath hidden thee, sweet food all fear
amongst the brazen beets and radish raw?
And why is it you choose to disappear
when, fork in hand, you spy my empty maw?
You can’t escape, I know how good you taste!
I’ll hang you like a trophy from my waist!
